iPhone Video Recording

Anyone that owns an iPhone has made several sacrifices to own Apples outstanding multi-touch device. One of these sacrifices is basic video recording. Almost every other phone on the market has this basic functionality, and in many cases some of these phones are free.  Fortunately, there are several different developers working to bring basic video recording functionality to the Jesus phone.

Showtime: Polar Bear Farm advertises Showtime as donation-ware however, in order to record more than 5 seconds you must pay $20. In other words its a short demo. I’m also not a huge fan of having to pay for beta software, and honestly its barely beta. Its lacking audio recording, and records at a very low frame rate. In my experience, after I purchased Showtime, the app would freeze when recording for more than 10 seconds.

When transferring videos to your Mac you must use their color converter otherwise you will appear as if you belong to the Blue Man Group. The converter is currently only for Mac, so if you use Windows, your video’s colors will be out of whack.(http://polarbearfarm.com)

Pros: —

Cons: Low frame rate, buggy, color correction tool needed, costs $20, no audio recording.

iPhone Video Recorder: This is somewhat better than Polar Bear Farm’s Showtime, as it adds a necessary audio recording feature and also allows you to email videos. However, it also costs $20 and users have reported crashing during playback. Frame rate isn’t all that great and when viewing videos on your phone or computer, playback is grainy and choppy.  (http://iphonevideorecorder.com)

Pros: Records Audio, allows you to select video quality and email videos.

Cons: Costs $20, poor quality grainy video.

uShow: uShow has not yet been released however, the creator Drunknbass has posted screenshots on his site (http://ushow.com)He also promises audio recording, and uploading to many popular video sharing sites. This article will be updated upon its release. (Screenshot from http://ushow.com)
