Although the main thing on every prospective iPhone Owner’s mind is: “3G in June?!?!!?,” i’d like to talk about a feature that may not be as appreciated, but is still useful. The iPhone is a device in it’s own class. The Voyager has nothing on the absolutely sleek and sophisticated design Apple has created, except for buttons.
Now, most iPhone owners would agree that they don’t WANT buttons, but soon, we all may have the best of both worlds. The whole reason of a button is to let you know you’ve clicked it. On the iPhone, the Multi-Touch technology is so perfectly integrated with that large screen that there really is no need to have to press down on anything at all. But some users want more. Some of you may have used the Voyager or the new Chocolate, and you would have noticed a little feature called “Tactile Feedback”- a subtle vibration to let you know you’ve pressed an area on the screen. Yes, it vibrates right in the spot you touch. (That’s what she said.) Well there are now rumors that the next iPhone physical upgrade may bring this semi-new technology to the table, as “an anonymous Apple employee says company executives are in talks with Immersion Corporation to license it’s tactile-feedback technology (in their terms, “Haptic technology”). And you know what? It couldn’t hurt. Thoughts anyone?
